The Country Representative of African Global Logistics (AGL) in Sierra Leone, Fabjan Kokan, has underscored the transformative power of education, describing it as “one of the strongest tools to change communities, nations, and the world.”

Speaking during the donation of Le390,160 to 59 university students from various institutions, Mr. Kokan said education is the foundation of sustainable progress and urged Sierra Leoneans, especially young people, to believe in their potential and invest in personal development.

“With education, we can change not only our communities but our country, Mama Salone, and even Africa and the world,” he said. “Education for you today becomes education for your children, your brothers, your sisters, and your family tomorrow.”

Mr. Kokan expressed concern that modern society is losing sight of essential human values such as empathy, solidarity, and humanity, emphasizing that true development requires investment in people as much as in infrastructure.

“We build roads, we buy machines, we create businesses — but without people as the key factor, all of that means nothing,” he remarked. “Investment in human capital always pays back — to your family, your community, and your country.”

He encouraged citizens to embrace challenges and remain focused on progress and self-belief rather than comparing themselves to others.

“Progress doesn’t happen overnight,” he said. “We must work hard, stay consistent, and face challenges with courage. Even if you fail, fail forward. What matters is how many times you stand up and move on.”

Mr. Kokan concluded by reminding the audience that failure is not a handicap but a teacher, urging everyone to stay resilient and goal-oriented in their pursuit of development.

The Seaside Representative, Annas Sesay, extended heartfelt thanks to AGL for their enormous support.

He said the company has always given back to their communities — “especially the seaside community, and we are grateful for the many ways you’ve supported us in all our activities, not just in education, but in so many other areas where we’ve benefited from your generosity.”

The Chairman of the Mowharf Community, Abubakarr Barrie, also commended AGL and reaffirmed their solidarity with the seaside community.

“Our students have learned a great deal from you today — and I, too, have learned something valuable: that when you fall, make sure you fall forward, not backward. Those are very clear and meaningful words of wisdom that we must all take to heart — not just as students, but as people,” he said.

However, one of the beneficiaries, Alhassan Momoh Bangura, assured the audience that they are determined to “light up this nation” through the support they have received.

He urged his fellow beneficiaries to take their education seriously and make the most of the opportunity.

“It’s not easy for someone to give you money and see no success at the end,” he said. “So we would like to improve ourselves and make those who supported us proud through our achievements. We thank you all, and may the Lord open more doors of blessings for you. Because when you have more, you will continue to support us.”
