Ahead of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation’s annual award ceremony in December, we highlight Amidu Kalokoh, a development advocate, educationist, security practitioner, and humanitarian, who continues to make remarkable strides in community transformation and national progress. As a previous national awardee of the Bai Bureh Service Delivery Awards 2023, where he was recognized for his exceptional dedication to development advocacy, out of 18 contenders, Amidu has not slowed his momentum. His work remains centered on improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans through education, peacebuilding, security, and social empowerment. His continued commitment to service demonstrates his unwavering belief in building a nation where opportunities and progress are shared by all.
In 2025, Amidu’s efforts gained international recognition when he was inducted as a Global Goodwill Ambassador by the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation (GGAF). This prestigious appointment celebrates his outstanding contributions to education, security, community, and national development in Sierra Leone. Through his leadership and humanitarian initiatives, Amidu has showcased how individual passion and community-centered action can drive real change. His induction not only honors his achievements but also strengthens his platform to promote Sierra Leone’s development agenda on a global stage.
One of Amidu’s most impactful accomplishments in recent years is the completion of a junior secondary school construction project in the Worreh Yeama community, located in Northern Sierra Leone. This milestone project reflects his strong belief in education as the foundation for sustainable development. The school will provide quality learning opportunities for children in rural areas who previously faced long distances and other barriers to access education. By prioritizing education infrastructure, Amidu continues to contribute toward the empowerment of future generations and low-income communities.
Amidu has also taken on an influential leadership role in national peacebuilding efforts. He was appointed as a board member for Sierra Leone Unites, a nonprofit organization that inspires, connects, and builds new generations of peacebuilders and national leaders. Through this platform, he actively supports initiatives that promote unity, peace, security, youth engagement, and reconciliation across diverse communities. His appointment reflects the trust placed in his vision and his proven record of fostering collaboration and social cohesion.
Amidu Kalokoh’s journey stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many young Sierra Leoneans. From receiving national recognition in 2023 as Development Advocate of the Year to attaining global acknowledgment in 2025, his story is one of perseverance, vision, and service. His continued work across education, community development, and peacebuilding embodies the true spirit of leadership, one that is rooted in compassion, integrity, and impact. As he continues to champion change both locally and internationally, in education, security, emergency management, and public policy, Amidu’s legacy will undoubtedly shape a brighter and more united future for Sierra Leone.
