Africell Sierra Leone has taken a strategic step in strengthening its regional presence and customer engagement with a high-profile leadership tour across Bo and Kenema, two of the country’s most economically vibrant districts. The visit—led by Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi and Afrimoney CEO Martison Obeng-Agyei—underscored the company’s renewed commitment to enhancing telecommunications services, expanding digital financial access, and building stronger relationships with communities in the south and east.

The tour was far more than a routine corporate engagement. It served as a strategic outreach effort, reflecting Africell’s philosophy that understanding the pulse of regional communities is key to sustaining service excellence and bridging digital gaps nationwide. Throughout the visit, the CEOs met with staff, agents, community stakeholders, and customers, using the opportunity to gather direct feedback on service quality, challenges, and expectations.

Speaking during an interview on the tour, Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi emphasized the company’s deep-rooted relationship with residents of the southern and eastern provinces, noting that Africell’s growth has always been closely tied to the loyalty and support of these regions. He explained that the leadership team’s physical presence in Bo and Kenema was intentional—designed to strengthen trust, improve communication, and reinforce the company’s commitment to service reliability.

“Our mission is simple: to listen, understand, and take action,” Gerjawi stated. “This visit is about engaging with the people who use our services daily and ensuring that their concerns, needs, and expectations are placed at the centre of our operations.”

He reiterated that Africell remains committed to delivering strong network coverage, faster internet connectivity, and consistent customer support. Gerjawi encouraged customers to continue voicing their concerns, stressing that public feedback has always shaped Africell’s innovations and service improvements.

“Africell values the people of the southern region deeply,” he said. “This is why I make it a personal priority to visit, to listen, and to ensure that whatever issues affect them are addressed promptly.”

Complementing this message, Afrimoney CEO Martison Obeng-Agyei highlighted the mobile money platform’s expanded role in driving financial inclusion across Sierra Leone. He pointed out that in many rural and semi-urban areas, Afrimoney has become the primary financial channel for everyday transactions, bill payments, business operations, and family support.

Obeng-Agyei noted that Afrimoney’s innovation continues to remove barriers that previously hindered financial participation—especially among young people and remote communities. He referenced the recent partnership with Njala University, which now enables students to pay their fees easily through Afrimoney, reducing the stress, travel costs, and delays associated with manual payment systems.

“Our goal is to make digital finance accessible to everyone, irrespective of geographic location,” he explained. “This tour allows us to hear directly from our agents and customers so we can keep refining our services.”

He also announced an ongoing Afrimoney promotion offering agents a chance to win millions of Leones simply by performing regular transactions—a move aimed at motivating frontline agents and boosting transaction efficiency.

The joint leadership tour by Africell and Afrimoney signals more than a corporate check-in. It demonstrates a coordinated commitment to decentralizing service engagement, strengthening digital inclusion, and driving economic empowerment at the community level. The CEOs’ direct interaction with customers and staff reaffirmed the company’s understanding that connectivity and financial access are essential pillars of modern development.

As Africell and Afrimoney continue to invest in infrastructure, customer support, and technological advancement, the visits to Bo and Kenema serve as a clear reminder: the company’s vision for Sierra Leone is one in which no region is left behind, and every customer—urban or rural—has access to reliable communication and financial tools. With renewed momentum from this regional engagement, Africell and Afrimoney are set to deepen their footprint across Sierra Leone, empowering communities, supporting local economies, and strengthening the country’s digital future.
